In the late stages of the Sounders 3-0 victory over DC United, Mauro Rosales had to leave the pitch with a knee injury that came asa result of a needless tackle by Daniel Woolard. This afternoon he had an MRI to find a small tear of his MCL, meaning that he'll be out for two to four weeks. This honestly could not have come at a worse time for the Sounders, right in the midst of the final push for the playoffs when the Sounders could use his offensive spark the most to keep on pace behind the Galaxy, to take advantage in case of a rare slip up by the league leaders. Rosales is just the latest of many offensive players this season to be sidelined with a major injury, though thankfully unlike many of those injuries that have been, Rosales' shouldn't be season ending. He should be able to make a return for the play-offs.
Notes
- Leading up to the injury, Rosales had just set a club record for total assists in a season at twelve (Montero holding the previous record of ten). Now it seems unlikely that he'll be able to add to that tally any further.
