Winless Streaks Broken

Today two teams snapped their unbeaten runs and tasted victory for the first time since the opening couple of matches of the season. Those two teams are the Chicago Fire and Sporting Kansas City. The Fire were the first to play, against the Columbus Crew at Crew Stadium. They bombarded the crews goal the entire match and were finally able to find the back of the net and score the winning goal in stoppage time. The story was much different, however, at Kansas City. The faced an on form FC Dallas away from home immediately after their inaugural match at their new stadium Livestrong Sporting Park, and sent a message to the rest of the league that they are from out with a jaw-dropping 4-1 victory. Graham Zusi started off the scoring in the twenty eighth minute with a right-footed shot from the edge of the penalty area. FC Dallas answered courtesy Brek Shea four minutes later by excellently splitting through the defense and driving a low shot past Eric Kronberg, but it ultimately proved futile as Sporting Kansas went on to tally three more goals from the feet of Aurelien Colin, Zusi again, and Luke Sassano. These two matches today really demonstrate the level of parity within the league, and as a result how unexpected results can be. Even from teams that currently find themselves in residence of the bottom of the table.
